The 2010 Spokane Ag Expo and Pacific Northwest Farm Forum scheduled for February 2 – 4, 2010 at the Spokane Convention Center Complex is less than one month away. The largest farm machinery show in the Inland Northwest will host hundreds of exhibitors and conduct seminars and forums directly relating to agri-business from large-scale operations to small acreage farms and ranches. Exhibitors will range from the large farm equipment manufacturers and service providers to businesses that cater to small acreage and part-time farmers who hold down other jobs while also running their family farms.
Spokane Ag Expo is produced under one roof in the Group Health Hall of the Spokane Convention Center Complex. All show exhibits have been consolidated into the 100,000 square foot exhibit hall that is adjacent to the Spokane DoubleTree Hotel. Expo attendees will be able to visit all show exhibitors without having to walk to other areas of the complex. Over 200 exhibitors include large and small acreage equipment dealers and a host of agri-business service providers with the latest in farming innovations, will be on hand to do business with attendees.
The Pacific Northwest Farm Forum has scheduled seminars ranging across a wide spectrum of current topics of interest to both full-time and part-time farmers, ranchers and agricultural producers. The seminars, located in the ground floor meeting rooms of the DoubleTree Hotel, are scheduled for Tuesday, February 2, Noon–4:00 p.m.; Wednesday, February 3 from 10:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.; and Thursday, February 4, 10:30 a.m.–1:00.p.m.
The opening session of The Pacific Northwest Farm Forum on Tuesday morning will again host Dr. Art Douglas, Professor Emeritus, Atmospheric Science Department, Creighton University, presenting his “2010 Forecast for Weather Conditions in the Northwest”. Preceding Dr. Douglas will be John Oades, Vice President of U.S. Wheat Associates, a producer-based export market development group, will be presenting his thoughts on “The Pacific North West Wheat Industry Successes and Challenges Ahead”. Wednesday at 9:00 a.m., there will be a presentation by Dean Dan Bernardo, WSU College of Agriculture, Human and Natural Resources and Dean John Hammel, University of Idaho, College of Agricultural and Life Sciences discussing “The Impact of Major Budget Cuts on Research, Extension and Teaching”. Seminars include topics relating to cattle production, marketing crops and livestock and dozens of others relating to various size operations from five acres to five thousand. The Direct Seed Association will host a breakfast starting at 7:30 a.m., Thursday February 4 with comments by Russ Zenner, Past President PNDSA and Mark Richter, President PNDSA and conclude at 10:00 a.m. in time for that morning’s seminars. All seminars and events will be presented in the DoubleTree Hotel.
Free parking will again be at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena Parking Lot with free, round-trip shuttle bus service to the Spokane Convention Center Complex. Spokane Ag Expo is open to the public on Tuesday, 2/2 and Wednesday, 2/3 from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and on the final day of the show, Thursday, 2/4, from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
